I spent the afternoon at the inspiring International Charter School in Pawtucket, RI. They were having a pizza party to celebrate the bounty of their garden. The pizza was grilled and topped with fresh tomato, basil and oregano…all which came from the students’ garden. It was delicious!
It was amazing to see the kids excitement and pride over their garden, and I was impressed with their knowledge of all the different plants. The school is calling their garden an ‘outdoor classroom,’ and they are starting to use lessons from the garden as part of their science curriculum. How inspiring! I was especially excited to be there since I was covering it for a wonderful local publication, but since the article will not be out for about nine months (argghh), I figured I would share a sneak peek!
that pizza looks delicious!! there's nothing better than homegrown veggies.
